I will write a proper debrief and overview in the coming days but in short the vote on electing a PRP SuperPac attorney to be Chief Justice for the State of Hawaiʻi, for the next 10 years – passed a Senate floor vote with 20 yes votes and 5 no votes.
Ayes, 20.
Aye(s) with reservations: Senator(s) Dela Cruz, Elefante, Ihara, Keohokalole, Lee, C., Moriwaki.
Noes, 5 (Senator(s) Fukunaga, Inouye, Kidani, Rhoads, San Buenaventura). Excused, 0 (none).
A special mahalo to Senator San Buenaventura who stood up on the Senate floor and spoke with clarity on why she could not support the nominee.

“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We’re afraid.”
“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We will fall!”
“Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.
