So, my friends – let’s do this.
Seems we are on the cusp of making some good things happen – but we must turn it up and pile on.
So here it is:
Good government and CLEAN ELECTIONS – there is a key hearing in WAM next week and it’s 100% important that you submit testimony in support of these measures by Sunday morning 03/01…no later than 10:30am. (no oral testimony accepted)
Without question these are the top two:
Support SB2313 – Full Public Financing for State & County Elections
Support SB2530 – Close the Contractor Pay-to-Play Loophole
And, while your at it, please also support:
Support SB2247 – Executive Branch Fundraising Ban
Support SB2248 – Financial Disclosure for Gubernatorial Nominees
DON’T STOP THERE!
Next, read and SB3240 scheduled for TUESDAY MARCH 3 — THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANY FURTHER TESTIMONY SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – EMAIL THE WAM COMMITTEE MEMBERS INDIVIDUALLY AND LET THEM KNOW OF YOUR CONCERNS AND OPPOSITION –
SB3234 seeks to “align” Hawaii’s kindergarten kids and high schoolers with “evolving defense-related needs”. AND IT gives a “blank amount” of state taxpayer dollars – to the military and community relations office.
Can’t make this stuff up. It’s obviously part of the agenda – “Military wants Hawaiʻi to be a hub for Pacific arms manufacturing”
They want to brainwash our kids and they want us to pay the military community relations office – so they can do the brainwashing properly.

Thanks Gary! Done except SB3240 says no testimony accepted (deferral after hearing 2/23.
Shoots! Thanks for the heads up Ted…I’ll edit the blog and enourage everyone to email the WAM members directly.
Question – looking at the first bill..it has an effective date of 2075…how can that be? Answer only if you have time.. I’ll move on with the list. ((-;

Hello Pamela. Thank you for taking these actions and submitting testimony. True. Mahalo plenty. That is called a “defective effective date” and done intentionally…kind of a weird legislative strategy to ensure the bill receives extra scrutiny…AND…that date will eventually be “corrected” IF the bill moves forward through the various committees. My guess a true effective date would be 2028 as the earliest election that could benefit from this. But bottom line…please offer your general support if possible!
Aloha, Gary,
I submitted testimony opposing SB3240 SD1 (about the military and school children) for a hearing by WAM that was scheduled for 2/25/26. Mine was late testimony because I didn’t know about the hearing before the deadline, but I did submit testimony before the hearing on 2/25/26, so it should have been posted on the Legislature’s website. And I emailed all members of WAM about my opposition, as you had asked us to do in an email the other day.
Your message in this email says that a hearing is scheduled on this on “TUESDAY MARCH 3 so testimony is due by Monday.” *However, I just went to the Legislature’s website, and it says this about this bill: *” There are no upcoming hearings for this bill in which public testimony will be accepted.” So, apparently, no one can submit testimony on this bill now. If WAM passes this bill, can we still try to get the Senate to vote against it?
I guess if this bill passes in the Senate, we’ll have another chance to testify against it when it crosses over to the House.
Aloha, Eileen Cain, Honolulu
Thank you Eileen and YES your excellent testimony made it through and was posted for the 2/25 hearing…and yes this coming Tuesday’s continuation of that hearing is not accepting further testimony. I updated my blog and am encouraging people to email WAM members directly which you already did too – which makes your effort double excellent! And yes, if this passes WAM then the full Senate will vote on the floor and it will “cross over” to the House and so through a similar process…and yes there will be other opportunities to testify. Hopefully WAM does the right thing and votes to stop SB3240 SD1 in its tracks.
